As much as I'd love to have my name whispered among legends, I pride myself on acknowledging the end audience at the beginning of each project. Do they need me to win an award? No. Do they need to engage with materials that function and have a strong concept that properly communicates a goal? Yes. (But if I can achieve both, I'll take it!)

My love affair with design started with a 4th grade election poster.
Now with fourteen years of experience, my passion for the craft still grows. Each smell of a freshly printed piece, each spine cracked on a new book makes my heart beat faster. I've learned to love the rag of a paragraph like part of the family, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

1997 was a good year.
During the summer after my second year at the Corcoran, I attended a design program at Parsons, where I was introduced to Russian designers, the Stenberg Brothers. Amazed by their use of color and typography, I began to understand how design is influenced by culture and conversely how culture is influenced by design. Also that year, I read the “First Things First” manifesto, a 1963 effort by designers to take back the craft from consumerism. These influences, along with my senior project studying positives and negatives of appropriation in design, became the foundation for my work.

PHILLY IS MY HOME.
This town is truly one of the dirtiest places I’ve ever been to. And I love it. There’s something grittily beautiful about the juxtaposition of an abandoned lot against a colorful mural wall. The people here are real, the food is delicious, and I can be at the beach or the mountains within an hour. Activism is as strong as the arts here, and I’m inspired by it all. Originally from Arlington, Virginia, the first eight years of my Philly life were spent working at Design for Social Impact, an organization rooted in supporting the greater good. There I formed bonds with the world and with friends that still hold today.

THERE’S ROOM TO GROW.
I’m in constant awe of the way graphic design has changed in the short time I’ve been in the field. The talent is so thick, the numbers so vast. I’m an old dog in an ever-growing puppy boom of designers, and I know competition can be stiff. My education is deeply rooted in conceptual thinking, and I thrive on working with others who understand the importance of collaboration. Working at GHI Design for the last four years, I’ve learned how to work with larger institutions, balancing expectations and egos along the way. I love knowing there will always be more to share, and always more to learn.
